KEY STAGE 2 ( 7-11 years )

KEY STAGE 2 – ( PREP 3, PREP 4, PREP 5, PREP 6 )

In our Key Stage 2 classrooms the children are encouraged to develop a sense of pride and self-motivation.  As future scientists, lawyers, politicians or whatever they want to aim for, our students follow a broad and balanced curriculum exploring a wide range of topics and areas of interests including but not exclusively WW1 and 2, volcanoes and earthquakes, famous inventors and scientists, computer programming and Spanish.

Our Key Stage 2 pupils are prepared for the next step in their education by our excellent teaching and support staff.  This might include preparation for entrance exams for grammar schools or developing firm foundations to make the transition to mainstream secondary education.  Our small class size and skilled staff enable our children to make this move as smoothly as possible with the appropriate support and pastoral plan in place.

Key Stage 2 have the chance to visit the Imperial War Museum, the Wigan Life Museum, Farmer Teds and Blackpool Zoo.  They organise and run a range of charity events including Macmillan Coffee Morning, Operation Christmas Child, Children in Need and collecting for local food banks.  We have a Buddy System for younger children, school council and House Captains.  The children are given a sense of community spirit and explore their place in society by being encouraged to think of others before themselves.

In short, in Key Stage 2 at Green Meadow we are making sure we are educating our pupils for life as a whole, not just academically, we see how the whole child is important and that we are responsible for giving children a sense of who they are and what they are capable of.
